Welcome

A warm welcome to St Mark’s Wyke-

The Parish Church of Normandy village.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR VICAR.....

Dear Friends

As of 24th March 2020, all Church of England church buildings are closed in order to help limit the transmission of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). So our own church building of St Mark’s is shut for both public worship and private prayer until further notice. It is difficult and sad to have our church locked, yet we recognise the closure as a necessary step.

If you are walking past the church and through the peaceful churchyard on your daily exercise route, we encourage you to offer prayers for yourself, for others and for the world as you pass by. If you are unable to get out, perhaps pray with a picture of the church in your mind.

We also invite you to join in the rhythm of the Daily Prayer of the Church of England on the website for Morning Prayer and Night Prayer. A steady way to begin and end the day in these unsteady times.  Join us in a service of Daily Prayer | The Church of England

For personal prayer these pointers may be helpful:

Prayers for:

*Our Government and nation, for each other, for our village community and especially for those who work in our health and emergency services.

*Our local surgeries and staff at Normandy and Fairlands and at Ash Vale.

*Wyke School staff and children and for St. Mark's Pre-school. For all parents and carers.

*All key workers and volunteers on the front line.

*The vulnerable.

*God’s help to be a good Samaritan to those around us.

God of compassion,
be close to those who are ill, afraid or in isolation.
In their loneliness, be their consolation;
in their anxiety, be their hope;
in their darkness, be their light;
through him who suffered alone on the cross,
but reigns with you in glory,
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

With every blessing

Revd Alison.

Church services across the Church of England are suspended until further notice. Sadly there are no Sunday or midweek church services here at St Mark’s.
